This category contains packaged beverages fully or partially derived from the liquid contained in coconuts or root-based plants/vegetables. In addition to coconut water, other examples include birch water, cactus water, artichoke water, maple water and other light, clear liquid beverages derived from water-bearing plants. In general, these products are lighter and can be consumed for hydration or sometimes post-athletic recovery (in contrast to thicker, heavier juice products). Coconut milk and plant-based dairy substitutes are excluded. Some coconut or other root plants are combined with other fruits in blended juice beverages. If coconut water or other plant waters represent the largest ingredient in the juice combination (70% coconut water v 30% orange juice, for example), the product will be tracked here. Otherwise, the product will be tracked in Nectars or Juice Drinks. Unpackaged coconut water and other unpackaged plant waters are excluded. Brand examples: Vita Coco, Innocent coconut water.
